Where to start?

We’re here to help you make the right choice

Knowing when it is time for help—and what kind of care might be right—can feel difficult.

Thinking about care often begins with a feeling that something may need to change. You do not need to have the answers yet; we will help you understand the options calmly, honestly and without pressure.

Has something changed?

A collaborative conversation, not a checklist

Perhaps everyday life is becoming harder, arrangements that once worked no longer feel reassuring, or there has been a fall or hospital stay. Sometimes it is simply a gradual realisation.

Starting the conversation earlier gives everyone more time to ask questions, visit and feel sure rather than rushed. There is no pressure and no need to arrive with a plan.

Some gentle questions to begin with

  • What feels manageable right now—and what is starting to feel harder?
  • Are there any safety worries, such as falls, missed medication or skipped meals?
  • Is there enough company and connection day to day, or is loneliness becoming a concern?
  • Are the people providing support able to keep going, physically and emotionally?
  • Would having someone trusted nearby offer more confidence and calm?
The right care, at the right time

Three ways we care, all built around your life

Through Nettlestead and our sister service Nightingales HomeCare, families can choose visiting home care, 24-hour live-in care or residential care at Nettlestead. These are not rigid choices; we can help you understand the differences and decide what feels right.

Here is a top-line comparison. The buttons provide more detail about each option.

Home Care

“We’re mostly managing but could use a bit of help at home.”

  • Support in your own home when you want it, and space when you do not
  • Flexible visits, from occasional help to regular daily support
  • You decide your lifestyle and routines, on your timescale—in your own home and community
  • Choose what and when you eat, prepared yourself or with your carer’s help
  • See who you want, when and where you want—in your own home or elsewhere

What happens next?

A clear and gentle process

We keep the first steps straightforward and explain what is happening as we go.

Step 1

Tell us what is happening

We will ask about the person needing care, what life looks like now and what is worrying you most.

Step 2

Visit Nettlestead

Look around, meet the team, see available rooms and ask anything at all.

Arrange a visit

Step 3

Complete an assessment

Before offering a place, we make sure the care is safe, suitable and properly understood.

Choosing care can feel like a lot to carry

Let us help you work out the next step

If Nettlestead is not the right choice, we will say so honestly. Our aim is to help you reach a decision you feel comfortable with.
